My Ideal Community of Practice

This is a follow up to my blog this week. I wanted to include the websites for the organizations listed in my blog: www.MSDE.org, www.djs.state.md.us/, http://dhr.maryland.gov.

This is also an additional list of the requirments for juvenile service workers and social workers in this field:

Develops and implements procedures to ensure effective and efficient case management operations in county or geographical region;
Acts as a liaison to community organizations to develop and coordinate after-care plans and services for juveniles;
Requires knowledge of the processss and procedures of the juvenile court system;
Requires skills in applying various screening and assessment tolls to identify juvenile needs, behavior modification goals, appropriate treatment services or after-care planning

Great resource!

I saw your response to my blog and wanted to give you a heads up as to the new developments in Baltimore City. Hopkins has joined forces with Morgan State University's Urban studies department to start the East Baltimore Community School. They will be opening the door August 2013 and will be looking for skilled educators with degrees.; March 18, 2012 at 8:59 AM

My Top 5 Influential People:

Paulette White (Mom):

My mother has been the rock of my family. My mother showed me how to be strong no matter what. It is because of my mother's passion for teaching children that I am in this field. My mother's favorite quote is "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me". I always think back to that verse when I feel like I'm overwhelmed.

Arthur White (Step-Dad):

My stepdad came into my life at the age of 15. Since then, he has been a wonderful father figure for me. My biological father passed away when I was 8 years old. He has been wonderful to me throughout my trying teenage years. I can always count on him to be there for me.

Inez Jones (Grandmother):

My granny is the best. My grandmother is a true woman of God. I remember my granny watching me before and after school. When ever I didn't feel good, my grandmother would first pray for me, then make up old remedies to help me get better. She is a shining star and reflection of God's blessings. My granny is 90 years old and still caring for our family.

Jakki Goins (sister-in-law):

My sister in law helped to shape me as well. She gives great advice. Our relationship has always been separate from her marriage to my brother. I think that's what I love about her. She always keeps it real.

The Late Bishop James R. Jones (pastor):

My pastor was a very strong man. He was a true man of God. He would always talk to the young boys and girls in our church. My pastor had a passion for children. He would take the children in our church on trips all around the world. His passion was so great for children that he opened a christian school. In the school, some people contributed whatever funds they could. For the most part, many of the parents couldn't afford to pay so our pastor kept the school running with his own earnings. He was a true example of what a man of God should be and he is missed daily. I will always love him!!
